The Safety & Security Team Leader ensures the effective implementation of Occupational Health & Safety and security measures by leading and coordinating a team of 7/8 external security agents. The role exists to: Actively prevent workplace accidents, unsafe behaviors, and hazardous situations; Ensure security operations fully support safe warehouse workflows; Guarantee compliance with IKEA – Kuwait S&S policy OHS legislation, and emergency procedures; Protect employees, contractors, visitors, and drivers from occupational risks while on site to comply with IKEA – Kuwait S&S House rules
Job Responsibility:
Enforce OHS rules and safe working procedures across the warehouse
Monitor and report unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and near-miss incidents
Ensure emergency exits, evacuation routes, and fire-fighting equipment are accessible and functional
Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees, contractors, and visitors
Support implementation of risk assessments and hazard identification (traffic, lifting, racking, fire, machinery)
Participate in safety drills (fire, evacuation, emergency response)
Immediately stop and report any activity presenting a serious safety risk(s)
Control access to the warehouse to ensure only authorized and safety-inducted persons enter
Supervise vehicle, truck, and pedestrian movements to reduce collision and traffic risks (where and when needed)
Monitor CCTV and patrol high-risk areas for both safety and security concerns
Prevent theft, shrinkage, damage, and unauthorized handling of goods
Lead and supervise the 7/8 external security agents with a strong safety-first approach
Ensure security agents actively observe and report safety violations and hazards, not only security breaches
Provide daily safety briefings and shift handovers focusing on current risks and controls
Ensure security agents are trained on site-specific OHS procedures and emergency response
Act as the safety escalation point between warehouse operations, management, and the external security provider
Act as first responder for occupational accidents, injuries, fires, chemical spills, and security incidents
Coordinate emergency response and evacuation until management or emergency services arrive
Secure accident scenes to prevent secondary injuries
Ensure all accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents are documented, reported, and investigated
Support corrective and preventive actions following incidents
Conduct regular safety and security inspections of warehouse areas, yards, docks, and offices
Report non-compliance with OHS standards, fire safety rules, and security procedures
Maintain safety-related logs, inspection records, and incident reports
Support internal and external OHS and security audits
Requirements:
3–5 years in safety and/or security roles within warehouse, logistics, retail, or industrial environments
Proven experience in OHS monitoring, accident prevention, or safety supervision
Experience supervising external or outsourced teams in safety-critical environments
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Formal training or certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or Risk Prevention (highly desirable)
Fire Safety, First Aid, or Emergency Response training is a strong advantage
