Job Description:

We are looking for a Safety Engineer for Advanced Vehicle systems to support the design, analysis, and validation of safety-critical automotive features. The role focuses on ensuring functional safety and system robustness for advanced vehicle subsystems (autonomous driving, ADAS, E/E architecture, actuators, sensors).

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform functional safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, STPA) for advanced vehicle systems
  • Support system design verification and validation activities to ensure safety compliance
  • Develop system-level architecture with integrated safety requirements
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, electrical, and vehicle subsystem teams to integrate safety requirements
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation: architectures, requirements, hazard analyses, verification evidence
  • Identify and mitigate potential failure modes in advanced vehicle components

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Proven experience with functional safety for automotive systems, including ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF)
  • Exposure to ADAS, autonomous driving, robotics systems, or vehicle E/E architectures
  • Practical working knowledge of safety analysis methods such as HARA, FTA, FMEA, and/or STPA
  • Experience handling perception uncertainty, including degraded sensor states, sensor fusion limitations, and confidence estimation
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts in safety-critical systems, including model limitations, edge cases, and validation constraints
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with mission control and remote operations safety concepts, including teleoperation and fleet-level risk management
  • Experience designing or assessing fail-operational architectures and redundancy strategies for autonomous systems
  • Knowledge of DDS (Data Distribution Service) or similar middleware used in distributed autonomous vehicle platforms
  • Experience with AUTOSAR Adaptive in the context of ADAS or AV systems
  • Hands-on experience with scenario-based testing and simulation tools such as CARLA, PreScan, or dSPACE
  • Familiarity with ISO/PAS 8800 and emerging standards related to AI safety in road vehicles
  • Exposure to safety-focused knowledge graphs or structured safety argumentation frameworks
