Job Description

We are looking for a Safety and Wellness Coordinator to strengthen a workplace culture centered on safety, health, and employee support in Fonda, New York. This position blends day-to-day coordination with thoughtful analysis, cross-functional partnership, and proactive employee engagement. The ideal candidate is motivated by improving workplace practices, reducing risk, and helping employees navigate safety and wellness programs with confidence.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the coordination of workplace safety initiatives designed to reduce risk and promote a secure environment for employees
  • Oversee the reporting and follow-up process for employee injuries, ensuring documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant
  • Administer workers' compensation activities, including claim tracking, communication, and case support from start to resolution
  • Partner with managers and employees to facilitate return-to-work arrangements that align with business needs and employee recovery plans
  • Support and promote wellness efforts focused on attendance, health awareness, and injury prevention across the organization
  • Monitor safety, injury, and claims data to identify patterns, measure outcomes, and recommend practical improvements
  • Help maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory safety standards, including required logs and reporting activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to reinforce safe work practices and encourage employee participation in wellness-related programs.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting employee relations and core human resources administration functions
  • Working knowledge of workplace compliance standards and occupational safety practices
  • Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping requirements, including OSHA 300 documentation
  • Hands-on experience managing workers' compensation claims and injury-related processes
  • Ability to analyze safety and claims data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for working with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience supporting onboarding or training activities related to workplace policies, safety, or employee programs.

  • Develop, review, update and implement health and safety policies and procedures, including PPE, safe operation of cranes and mobile equipment, confined workspace, fire safety, asbestos, lead, and silica programs, as well as environmental compliance
  • Escalate health, safety and environmental issues to management
  • Maintain and manage all health and safety data and records, including training, first aid records, incident, accident and near-miss reports, equipment, and workplace inspections. Report to management team on compliance issues, trend analysis and risk management solutions
  • Reports safety statistics (i.e. root cause analysis on compliance issues, near misses, injuries, etc.) to senior management on a monthly basis
