Amentum is seeking a Safety and Health Manager for the Facilities Contract at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The Safety and Health Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of safety and health initiatives for the duration of the program. This role ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards while promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. The Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and health policies, procedures, and training programs.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, implement, and maintain effective safety, health, and environmental programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and health standards
Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence
Provide expert guidance and support to management and employees on safety and health issues
Develop and deliver safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and competency
Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and promote best practices
Monitor and analyze safety and health performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
Prepare and manage budgets related to safety and health programs
Oversee environmental compliance of work force as hazardous material users
Oversee sitewide wildlife management activities that include wildlife conflict response and monitoring
Requirements:
A minimum B.S. Degree is required, preferably in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other related science
No less than five (5) years continuous work experience as a Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager at a large, multi-employer and multi-discipline federal aerospace and/or commercial manufacturing facility, operating as a large quantity generator of hazardous wastes
No less than fifteen (15) years of total continuous experience in multiple, major, SHE programs with a demonstrated record of continual improvement
Recent Texas environmental experience working with the TCEQ, Texas State Department of Health Services (TSDHS), EPA Region VI, OSHA, DOT, and local regulatory agency laws, standards, and guidance materials
