Job Responsibility

  • Provide leadership across the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) and satellite sites
  • Establish and continually improve site procedures and safety-related systems to prevent harm
  • Manage Safety and Health monitoring regimes in line with ISO standards (45001, 9001, 14001, 50001) and legal requirements
  • Support environmental monitoring and ensure the site meets all obligations regarding its environmental permit
  • Lead root cause analysis for safety and compliance incidents and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Act as the audit lead for all internal and external inspections, maintaining the site's Quality Management System
  • Deliver safety initiatives and toolbox talks to the site team and fleet, fostering a Safer Together culture

Requirements

  • Science-based degree (or equivalent experience) and a NEBOSH safety qualification
  • Proven track record of managing H&S within a complex, regulated workplace
  • Deep understanding of H&S legislation, ISO standards, and technical aspects of waste management
  • Practical experience with root cause analysis tools and data management (Excel)
  • Experience with environmental permitting, licensing, and regulated activities
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to lead investigations and chair safety meetings
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
