Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Social Worker to join their frontline children's services team, working to protect and support vulnerable children and young people. This is a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children at risk, requiring a confident practitioner with strong assessment and risk management skills.
Job Responsibility:
Hold a caseload of children subject to safeguarding concerns, including Child Protection and Child in Need plans
Undertake Section 47 enquiries, assessments, and direct work with children and families
Develop and implement outcome-focused care and safety plans
Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners to achieve the best outcomes
Prepare and present reports for case conferences, reviews, and, where necessary, court proceedings
Keep accurate and timely case records on the council's systems
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
At least 2 years' post-qualifying experience in safeguarding or child protection
In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance
Ability to manage complex cases and work to tight deadlines
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)
