Job Description:

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for adult protection and risk management? Gateshead Council is looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Coordinator to join their Adult Safeguarding Team. This is a pivotal role focused on leading complex enquiries and ensuring the safety of adults at risk within the community.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading Section 42 Enquiries: Facilitating and chairing complex safeguarding meetings
  • Duty Management: Participating in the duty system to ensure all concerns are processed within prescribed timescales
  • Expert Guidance: Providing practice advice and mentoring to staff and partners on high-risk, multi-agency proceedings
  • Strategic Collaboration: Creating effective relationships with the CQC, Legal Services, and Commissioning Teams to monitor provider compliance
  • Case Management: Coordinating allegations against staff or volunteers and maintaining accurate electronic evidence systems

Requirements:

  • A Social Work degree (or equivalent) and evidence of continued professional development
  • Detailed understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and risk management frameworks
  • Proven track record of chairing complex meetings, assessing high-risk situations, and producing high-quality management reports
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working within an adult social care setting
