Job Description

Employee will be part of the Deployment Pool and will be required to support deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations, as required. This position will require the member to be flexible in the support of assigned deployment/work schedules. Member will perform and inspect organizational and intermediate level maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment, as required. Lastly, this position requires an individual that can apply basic technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting Air Force technical orders, manufacturers’ manuals/instructions or similar documents through the usage of test equipment/instruments to affect repairs. Member will inspect, service, repair, and overhaul aircraft, aircraft engines, and other critical components to ensure airworthiness. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills. Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.; diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks; test engine operations, use test equipment to locate source of malfunction(s). Replace/repair damaged components and remove engine/major components from aircraft, using hoist or other lifting devices; disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects; repair/replace defective engine components and reassemble and install engines in aircraft; adjust, repair, or replace instruments, ADP flight controls, electrical/electronics, fuel/oil systems and associated aircraft accessories. Perform aircraft services to include engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and required maintenance checks. May specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies. Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform all daily launch/recovery duties in support of operational requirements
  • Apply logic and good judgment, understand basic technical order diagrams and procedures, use test equipment for analysis of airframes, engines, flight controls, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical / electronic systems, and problems
  • Support aircraft utilization and maintenance activity schedules
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory during all maintenance activities
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks and ensure their successful completion
  • Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet gun, drills, and other tools
  • Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions
  • Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks
  • Test engine operations using testing equipment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum
  • Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience
  • Basic knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance
  • Theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, theory of flight and electronic flight controls, basic understanding of applicable systems
  • Ability to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment
  • Must achieve a passing grade in all required courses/certifications for continued employment
  • Must meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening
  • Ability to deploy to Forward Locations as Directed by the Government
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date
  • Must have had an Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months
  • Must be able to maintain required DoD security clearance commensurate with assigned duties during employment
  • Must have current/active State Issued Driver’s License
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid flight-line Government Driver’s License
  • Must have valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster

  • Associate degree in a relevant career field
  • Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic
  • RPA Deployment Experience
  • Prior Experience as a Defense Contractor
  • Aircraft Mechanic Experience within the last 10 years
  • MQ-9 Experience as an Aircraft Mechanic
  • MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair / Replacement Experience
