We're hiring an RPA Developer to join our engineering team at Vertu Motors Plc., a business that buys and sells cars, parts, and time across 190+ dealerships nationwide, supported by technology built and maintained by a tight-knit team of engineers. The problems we solve are real and close to the surface. A business running at £4bn annual revenue, with 7,500+ colleagues, depends on processes that run reliably and efficiently behind the scenes. You'll build and maintain the automation that takes manual, repetitive work off our colleagues' plates, freeing them to focus on customers. This is work with direct, measurable business impact. This is a role for someone who has built automation in the real world and wants to grow their breadth as an engineer. You'll start from a foundation of RPA and C#/.NET, and you'll have the room (and the support) to work across more of the stack, more languages, and AI-assisted ways of building. We move fast, ship frequently, and learn from what we build. This role is hybrid. The successful candidate will be ideally based in the Northeast and will be working approximately three days per week at our head office in Gateshead. We are open to considering fully remote candidates for the right person, with the expectation that they may be required to travel to our head office in Gateshead, or their local dealership, at least once a month.
Job Responsibility
Build and maintain the automation that takes manual, repetitive work off our colleagues' plates, freeing them to focus on customers
Understanding our automation estate, the team's rhythm, and the business context behind what we build
Contributing to automations and fixes across our process areas, pairing with teammates, and developing a clear picture of how the systems fit together
Actively contributing to various parts of the team's code estate, specifically working on cloud-based automations and AI solutions over and above RPA solutions, supporting each other's delivery, and helping us ship with confidence.
Requirements
RPA experience: Hands-on experience building and maintaining robotic process automation, using tools such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate, or similar
C# / .NET experience: Solid, practical development experience in C# and .NET
A polyglot mindset: You can demonstrate that you work, or can confidently learn to work, across more than one programming language. You don't need to be fluent in our full stack (Golang, C#, TypeScript, and Python), but you need to be the kind of engineer who picks up new languages without friction
AI workflow experience: You're already using AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor) as part of how you work day to day.
Nice to have
AI integration experience: Embedding AI capabilities directly into a product or process (LLM-powered features, AI APIs, agents, or similar)
Cloud experience: Hands-on work with AWS or Azure, deploying and managing services in production environments
Full-stack and serverless experience: Working across frontend, backend, APIs, and data, including serverless technologies (Lambda, event-driven architectures, or equivalent)
Broader software engineering experience: Prior experience working as a software engineer on solutions that aren't necessarily RPA-related
Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL), scripting, or writing standalone tools and background workers.
