Job Description

We are looking for a Routing Specialist to support logistics operations in California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating transportation activity, maintaining accurate shipment data, and keeping deliveries on schedule in a fast-moving environment. The person in this role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to improve route efficiency, address service issues quickly, and help ensure day-to-day freight movement runs smoothly.

Job Responsibility

  • Create and adjust transportation routes to improve delivery timing, equipment utilization, and overall service performance
  • Track shipment activity using Excel and logistics systems, producing clear updates and reports for operational planning
  • Partner with drivers, dispatch, warehouse staff, and customer-facing teams to keep freight moving according to schedule
  • Investigate delays, service disruptions, and routing exceptions, then take prompt action to resolve issues and minimize impact
  • Maintain organized records related to loads, route changes, transportation costs, billing details, and operational activity
  • Communicate with carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders to provide status updates and support service expectations
  • Use tools such as ERP, CRM, and transportation platforms including CargoWise to manage shipment information and workflow accuracy
  • Support compliance with transportation procedures, customs-related requirements, and company standards across daily operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in logistics coordination, routing, dispatch, or transportation operations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas, lookup functions, and data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with business systems such as ERP, CRM, or related logistics platforms
  • experience with CargoWise is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven logistics or trucking environment
  • Clear communication skills and a customer-focused approach when working with internal teams and external partners
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate shipment, billing, and routing records
  • Problem-solving ability and sound judgment when responding to delivery issues or changing transportation needs
  • Knowledge of transportation processes, freight coordination, and customs support is an advantage
