Focus on race route planning for selected stages of the Tour de France Grand Depart and or Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Grand Depart
Support the Race Route Lead to manage and co-ordinate local authorities, highways authorities and all other key stakeholders primarily responsible for the delivery of a race ready closed road route
Be a key liaison between Grand Depart GB 2027 and Police forces, other Emergency Services, local Safety Advisory Groups and several key delivery contractors and suppliers for each stage
Work in detail across all aspects of the event route to ensure a safe closed road racing route is provided
Lead the creation of route management and supervision plans, including road closure marshal allocation and identification of volunteer locations
Work with the key partners to design resource levels needed for route management
Work closely with Emergency and Critical Services to ensure their business-as-usual operations are factored into event planning
Design, with others, the scope of requirements for stewarding, barriers and other safety and security provision
Development of route contingency plans working in conjunction with the relevant policing authorities, highways authorities and suppliers across the three days of the event
Update and manage documents and communications that will form part of the wider event management plan for the event weekend
Work in collaboration with the Highways and Transport Team to interlace route management, spectator travel management and wider traffic impact planning
Act as the main point of contact on route matters for local authorities responsible for the routes and stages for which you are working
Work collaboratively with the Operations and Programme teams, supporting delivery partners in their preparations and delivery
Work collaboratively and flexibly across the project providing additional support to other teams and departments as required by the Race Route Lead / Operations Director
Requirements:
Proven experience of delivering closed-road route management for large and complex events in the sports events industry (e.g. Cycling, Marathon / road-running or Triathlon)
Demonstratable experience of working in partnership with Local Authorities, Emergency Services, Transport Authorities and other key stakeholders to secure the necessary road closures and highways amends to deliver a secure race route
Demonstratable understanding of the requirements (staffing, infrastructure, key contracts) to deliver a fully closed road race route
Confident leader and project manager, capable of overseeing complex operations, coordinating multiple workstreams, and driving high performance across teams and delivery partners
Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
Experience of successfully collaborating to deliver complex projects with multiple partners and stakeholders across public and private sectors
Strong communicator who thrives on building relationships with colleagues and a range of stakeholders
