Job Description:

To stack trim blocks that are made by the Graders while monitoring quality. This is a safety sensitive position at the Axis Plant - New South Lumber Company.

Job Responsibility:

  • Stack trim blocks that are made by the Graders while monitoring quality
  • Determine which trim blocks will be stacked for customer use and which blocks will be sent to the hog for shaving
  • Cut up all 4’ and 6’ blocks that do not meet the Stacking Standards so that they can be fed into the hog
  • Stamp all 4’ and 6’ blocks with an Auditing Agency stamp that labels the material as Heat Treated
  • Perform all assigned housekeeping in and around the work area
  • Responsible for the quality of all blocks and material produced at the machine center
  • Monitor the quality of material in their work area
  • Assist in notifying management if and when an out of control quality issue is identified in other work areas
  • Follow all New South Safety Procedures
  • Assist management in monitoring the safe practices of all employees within their area

Requirements:

  • Employee must be able to work at an above average pace to keep up with normal production flow
  • Employee is required to stack blocks from 2’ to 6’ in length on a repetitive basis
  • Employee must also be able to lift anywhere from 5 lbs. To 30 lbs.
  • Have knowledge of how to properly operate a skill saw and chip saw
