Job Description:

Roof Plumber installs, maintains, and repairs flashings, metallic roof and wall claddings, and rainwater products such as gutters and downpipes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all roofing and cladding work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with Australian building codes and project specifications.

Job Responsibility:

  • Studying and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of roof plumbing systems and the materials required
  • Selecting and assessing materials and equipment for each project to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, and fitting metal sheets and components to fabricate metal roofing, wall cladding, flashings, and rainwater goods
  • Installing metal roof and wall cladding systems on commercial, industrial, and residential buildings
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining gutters, downpipes, rainwater heads, and other rainwater collection and disposal systems to ensure effective drainage
  • Fabricating and installing roof flashings around vents, chimneys, skylights, and other penetrations to create a watertight seal
  • Sealing joints and seams using techniques such as soldering, brazing, riveting, or applying high-performance sealants
  • Conducting inspections and tests on installed systems to ensure they are secure, watertight, and compliant with all relevant building codes, Australian Standards, and manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Identifying and rectifying leaks or defects in roofing systems and rainwater products
  • Adhering strictly to all workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations, including working safely at heights, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Coordinating work with other trades on construction sites to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and operational condition

Requirements:

  • Meticulous and precise in all aspects of work to ensure high-quality, watertight installations
  • Ability to identify issues, assess options, and implement effective solutions on-site
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, and working at heights in various weather conditions
  • A strong and demonstrable commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for oneself and others
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with supervisors, colleagues, and other trades
  • Punctual, dependable, and possessing a strong work ethic
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools specific to the roof plumbing trade
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Relevant certificate qualification or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position
