A Rodent K9 Detection Technician works with, cares for, and maintains a scent-detection canine trained to locate rodents in commercial and residential properties. The technician must accurately interpret the dog’s indications, maintain its ongoing training, and verify alerts through visual or manual inspection.
Job Responsibility:
Explain the inspection process to customers and provide demonstrations of rodent detection capabilities to potential clients
Meet travel expectations as they may travel around the country to assist national accounts on rodent escalations
Conduct thorough inspections of properties to properly identify signs of rodent activity
Guide the dog through structured inspections, ensuring proper coverage of all designated areas
Ensure the dog is well groomed, well trained, and prepared to perform detection tasks reliably
Provide full care for the dog during off-work hours, including feeding, maintenance training, grooming, exercise, and routine veterinary visits
Work in indoor and outdoor environments under various weather conditions using company-provided gear
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including OSHA-compliant respirator equipment when necessary
Safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and all equipment
Requirements:
Clean-shaven face for safety and PPE sealing purposes
High school diploma or GED
Prior experience working with dogs, especially in training or handling environments
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
Off-street parking available for the company vehicle
Availability to work Monday–Friday and occasional Saturdays as needed
Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
Basic math skills
Any licenses or certifications required by federal, state, and/or local regulations
