Job Description

We’re Blue River, a team of innovators driven to create intelligent machinery that solves monumental problems for our customers. We empower our customers – farmers, construction crews, and foresters – to implement safer and more sustainable solutions, driving increased profitability with less reliance on scarce labor. We believe that focusing on the small stuff – pixel-by-pixel and task-by-task – leads to big gains. Blue River Technology aligns with John Deere’s vision to “innovate on behalf of humanity” by quickly identifying and solving high-value, high-uncertainty challenges in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and robotics. BRT acts as a research-and-development flywheel, building not only new products but also new platforms that reliably create value for both Deere and its customers. From fully autonomous machines to highly precise farming equipment, BRT and Deere are partnering to create technical breakthroughs across industries such as agriculture and construction. Blue River is seeking a Robotics Operations Engineer to manage the critical intersection of engineering development and real-world deployments of our technology. In this role, you will be the primary facilitator in bridging the gap between our engineering teams and global cooperators. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of data collection operations, from building advanced ruggedized hardware, coordinating international deployments, and managing multi-disciplinary data needs. This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys a mix of high-level coordination and hands-on technical work.

Job Responsibility

  • Follow defined procedures to regularly monitor deployed systems and troubleshoot common issues
  • Create processes to improve operational efficiency and develop metrics to track operational success
  • Communicate regularly with customers, technicians, and various engineering, field, and business operations teams
  • Maintain detailed documentation of related processes, procedures, and workflows
  • Work closely with the hardware engineering team to build and deploy prototype data collection machines
  • Integrate with software development teams to do quality checks and flash systems while maintaining feature development schedules
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and support our internal inventory system

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, project management, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and operations management skills
  • Independent, results-oriented, and able to set and meet schedules in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortable learning new technical skills using existing training materials or coaching from engineering staff
  • Microsoft Office or Google Workspace proficiency

Nice to have

  • Experience in agriculture, agriculture-technology, computer vision, or a robotics-related field
  • Experience in mechanical, robotics, and software engineering
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Advanced degree
  • Python, C++, SQL, Database, or other coding experience
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or real-time operating systems
