Job Description:

We are seeking a Roaming Solution Architect to design and guide the evolution of roaming services across global Vodafone markets. In this role, the individual will own the end‑to‑end roaming architecture, ensuring secure, scalable, standards‑aligned solutions that support Vodafone’s international mobility strategy. This includes technical authority across S8HR, LBO, signalling, routing, emergency services, international interworking, and roaming security. The position also involves driving technical readiness, lifecycle assurance, architectural governance, and cross‑market alignment to ensure exceptional roaming performance and service reliability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define, maintain, and evolve the global roaming target architecture, covering S8HR, LBO, signalling, routing, and interconnect models
  • Lead High‑Level and Low‑Level Design creation for multi‑market roaming service deployments
  • Establish architectural principles, reusable patterns, and guardrails to support cross‑market engineering consistency
  • Ensure compliance with GSMA and 3GPP roaming specifications (including IR.21, IR.65, IR.85, IR.88, IR.95)
  • Drive standardisation and cross‑market alignment for roaming services and technical frameworks
  • Lead technical readiness and launch governance for roaming services, ensuring seamless interworking with EPC/5GC, IPX, and signalling networks
  • Conduct inter‑operator testing, roaming trials, and international interoperability validation
  • Oversee lifecycle assurance, deep‑dive diagnostics, and issue resolution for deployed roaming services
  • Monitor and optimise key roaming KPIs including attach, registration, and session success
  • Act as Vodafone’s technical authority in vendor engagements, IPX discussions, GSMA working groups, and operator‑partner interactions
  • Provide technical mentorship to teams across VOIS and Vodafone markets
  • Support technical budget planning for roaming evolution, including investment recommendations and cost‑efficient design choices
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and assess licensing, capacity, and financial implications in line with Group strategy

Requirements:

  • 8–12 years of experience in mobile core, roaming architecture, interconnect services, or international mobility
  • Strong expertise across roaming technologies such as S8HR, LBO, IPX connectivity, Diameter, SIP, MAP/CAMEL, and EPC/5GC interfaces (S6a, S8, S9, N26, N9, SEPP)
  • Deep understanding of international roaming flows, service security, and GSMA/3GPP compliance
  • Proven experience leading multi‑market roaming deployments or complex cross‑operator programmes
  • Strong collaboration background with GSMA, 3GPP, vendors, and international operators
  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Solid foundation in mobile core network design, roaming integration, and international service delivery
