Job Description:

This position has responsibility for supporting the Director Supply Chain in analyzing and achieving supply savings through value analysis initiatives as well as targeting utilization and savings targets through the value analysis process. Preforms the value analysis process from initial request to contract handoff to provide high quality, efficient and cost effective products and services. The position also supports and adheres to a streamlined method for standardization and monitors products/service selection, utilization and costs. Provides clinical and strategic expertise, which facilitates supply expense management while improving all processes that support patient care, education and research. Interacts with many areas of the hospital including physicians, allied health professionals, administrators, Finance department staff, foundation materials management staff, vendors and other individuals internal and external to TMC.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyzes daily operations and implements needed changes
  • Analyzes the requisitioning, sorting, labeling and issuing of supplies to meet area needs
  • Subscribes to and upholds established standards of behavior
  • Works collaboratively and supports efforts of other team members
  • Supports quality improvement initiatives through team participation, data collection, process change implementations, and other activities
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times, including patient information, proprietary information and personnel information
  • Directs, consults and analyzes product/service introduction (internal/external), investigation, education, conversion, issues and tracks projected outcomes
  • Maintains processes for continual identification and prioritization of cost containment opportunities
  • Guides project sponsors with conduction value analysis processes
  • Coordinates products/services evaluations and trials to assure the proper use of product, use of appropriate evaluation criteria, documentation of evaluation outcome, and consultation of necessary personnel
  • Investigates new or alternative products/services based on various processes and tools
  • Collaborates with user group and suppliers to develop product specifications and to determine availability and potential use of standard or customized supplies
  • Keeps current on technology, regulatory, and operational trends in the health care industry which may impact product/service utilization
  • Coordinates the collaboration between materials management, suppliers and user groups to achieve effective and efficient resolution while targeting supply savings and utilization opportunities
  • Seeks direction from legal and risk management when appropriate
  • maintains documentation to comply with legal/regulatory requirements and parameters established by TMC
  • Acts as a resource to departments regarding the establishment of the most cost effective approach to product/service need, price, utilization and ability to support quality patient care

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a qualified, nationally-accredited nursing program
  • Five (5) years of nursing experience
  • Current AZ RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public
  • Ability to work with concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and to apply mathematical operations to solve or analyze job-related situations
