Job Responsibility

Donor Assessment and Education: Screens potential donors, provides comprehensive education on transplantation, coordinates extensive medical/psychosocial testing, and helps manage the donor's physical and emotional journey
Team Collaboration: Works closely with surgeons, nephrologists, social workers, dietitians, and other specialists to develop and adjust care plans
Coordination: Manages all logistics, including scheduling appointments, lab work, imaging, facilitating consent, and coordinating pre- and post-operative care for donors
Support and Communication: Serves as the primary point of contact, offering support, reassurance, and education to donors and families before, during, and after donation, especially when delivering difficult news (e.g., donor unsuitability)
Documentation & Compliance: Ensures accurate, timely documentation and adherence to strict federal (e.g., UNOS/OPTN, CMS) and hospital regulations
Advocacy: Acts as an advocate for the donor, ensuring their well-being, rights, and understanding throughout the process
Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building
Ensures the maintenance of the pre transplant charts, ensures compliance with documentation required by regulatory agencies
Coordinates pre-transplant patient education and evaluation processes
Assumes responsibility for call
