Meduflex is MUSC Charleston’s inpatient Float Pool, supporting a wide range of patient care units across the downtown campus. Spanning 10 specialized zones and serving both Adult and Pediatric populations, the team offers flexible scheduling and shift differential pay.
Job Responsibility:
The Student Technician I reports to the Nurse Manager
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Student Tech I performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and has successfully completed a Nursing Fundamentals Course
Enrollment in nursing school is verified as part of background process
Transcript or letter from college may be requested prior to employment
Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients
Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Basic computer skills required
Position may require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, holidays and weekends
Within two months of date of hire, employees must successfully pass the on-line course modules and skills validation for basic skills
Passing requires achieving an 80% passing rate in two attempts or will result in separation from employment
Trainees are expected to have reliable attendance, are responsible for maintaining their BLS and any other annual competencies
Failure to abide by MUHA policies are subject to disciplinary action, including termination
Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire
Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
