In this vital role, you will combine advanced perioperative knowledge with strong critical‑thinking abilities to ensure the safe, efficient, and compassionate delivery of surgical care. As an integral member of the surgical team, you will support patients throughout the intraoperative process, uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique, collaborate seamlessly with surgeons and anesthesia providers, and ensure every detail is executed with precision. This role is ideal for an RN looking for a part-time position, who values teamwork, technical mastery, and making a meaningful impact on patient care every day.

Job Responsibility

  • Demonstrate full competency in scrub and surgical routines
  • Monitor aseptic practices continuously in all assigned roles
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and recognize procedural sequences
  • Pass instruments accurately and efficiently
  • Follow established protocols for autoclaves and Steris units
  • Perform proper care, handling, and assembly of instruments
  • Complete thorough documentation of all flash and Steris cycles
  • Maintain accountability for safe handling of supplies and equipment
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments
  • Develop individualized intraoperative care plans
  • Provide direct patient care during surgery
  • Continuously evaluate patient responses and adjust nursing care plan
  • Demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge of perioperative nursing
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation
  • Apply expertise in proper intraoperative positioning
  • Follow universal skin care precautions
  • Assist with accurate completion of sponge, sharps, instrument, and miscellaneous item counts
  • Collaborate to maintain up-to-date surgeon preference sheets
  • Display effective prioritization, critical-thinking, and time-management skills
  • Maintain precision in patient charging and cost-effective supply usage
  • Contribute to efficient room turnover
  • Assist with containment of body fluid spills and room cleanup
  • Prioritize case completion and room setup steps

Requirements

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care
  • Prefer minimum of 1-year recent perioperative experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • RN - Registered Nurse
  • BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
