As a Psychiatric Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, you’ll help our patients and their families feel comfortable and educated when they’re making significant healthcare decisions. Our patient population needs hands-on nursing to be able to identify patient needs when they are not able to articulate what they are experiencing. You’ll build trust in these interactions by advocating, supporting, and educating your patients and their families. Your success in this role comes from your empathy and patience to help others during a vulnerable time in their lives. You’ll get to be involved in patient improvement that can take a patient from disorientation to opening up and sharing their personality.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct rounds, physical assessments of patients, and med pass during shift to diagnose the medical and emotional status of patients
Interact with patients throughout shift and be the eyes and ears to notice any difference in patient health and behavior
Alert the physician of any changes noticed
Interact with patients in a group setting and lead therapeutic group meetings as scheduled
Coordinate and work with the activities director for the unit
Thoroughly explain diagnosis and plans for ongoing treatment to patients and their caregivers.
Requirements:
Minimum requirement of 6 months of prior acute care experience in same unit
Current California license as a Registered Nurse
AHA BLS
Excellent communication and patient skills required.
