Job Description

The Supervisor, Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for supervision of assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe, caring environment for patients, family and staff which fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision-making, inter-professional teamwork and collaboration with positive patient and staff outcomes.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervision of assigned nursing and unit-based personnel

  • Oversees day-to-day operations and productivity
  • Assists the Nursing Manager in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, quality/performance improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance councils
  • Creates, fosters and sustains a healthy work environment which supports evidence-based practice and research
  • Coordinates patient care through collaboration with inter-professional team members
  • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
  • Facilitates practice changes among nursing staff
  • Creates and sustains a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families and staff
  • Role models, teaches and provides age-specific and developmentally- appropriate patient care
  • Advocates on behalf of the nursing staff
  • Monitors the learning needs of staff and patients/families

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • 2 Years of Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations
  • standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies
  • hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • principles and practices of health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease prevention and management

Serve as a subject matter expert for one type of equipment and oversee everyday tasks and troubleshooting within their area of expertise. Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works within disciplines they have been trained and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline(s). Provide and/or assign team to provide necessary escort to third-party contractors, sub contractors, vendors, and service providers on site for all severity leveled procedures.
