Job Responsibility

  • Practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics
  • Record patients' medical history and symptoms
  • Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
  • Operate medical equipment
  • Administer treatment and medications
  • Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
  • Establish or contribute to a care plan
  • Administer medication
  • Start, maintain, and discontinue intravenous (IV) lines
  • Administer therapies and treatments
  • Observe the patient and record observations
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare clinicians
  • Teach patients and their families how to manage their illnesses or injuries
  • Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides
  • Precept new hire staff and students
  • Assist staff and students to complete competency skills
  • Possess knowledge of stroke symptoms, protocols, NIHSS, Stroke Alert, and quality indicators
  • Collect health data
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient plan of care
  • Identify expected outcomes
  • Implement interventions
  • Provide nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs
  • Evaluate patient progress

Requirements

  • 2 years previous Telemetry Experience Required
  • >10 months med-surg or acute specialty setting
  • 1 year RN experience for all Float Positions
  • Associate's degree or Diploma in Nursing (PRIOR TO START)
  • All Diploma and ADN hires must Complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience at the time of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State And/or Compact State Licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona Upon Hire

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
  • National certification for unit specific patient population
