Job Description:

As an ER Nurse at CHI Mercy Health Valley City, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies. No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you’ll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies
  • Prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while providing emergency triage
  • Partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care
  • Perform IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aid providers with chest tube insertions
  • Exhibit teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives
  • Provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity
  • Patient-Centered Care & Planning: Assess patient needs, initiate care plans, and provide holistic support
  • Education & Empowerment: Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, evaluating outcomes, and following all regulatory, infection control, and medication safety protocols
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Resolve patient issues through effective teamwork with multidisciplinary colleagues

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), Required upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: North Dakota (RN:ND), Required upon hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), Required upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Required upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Required upon hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Required within 12 months of start

  • Liaison of communication between front desk staff, nursing staff, physicians, and clinic manager
