Job Responsibility

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit
  • Serve as a clinical nurse and resource to the staff
  • Authorize work procedures and assign duties, shift charge
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and ensure high-quality care delivery
  • Act as a vital link between physicians and the patient care team
  • Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments
  • Provide input and recommendations on coaching, mentoring and performance management
  • Assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family
  • Act as a professional role model for all staff
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient
  • Actively serve on unit as a registered nurse and may take patient assignments
  • Be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values
  • Cover the Sports Medicine service line
  • Circulate and/or Scrub on all cases
  • Coordinate equipment, supplies, and implants for specific cases
  • Interact directly with surgeons to facilitate surgical cases
  • Serve as a leader within the department to support staff, Manager and Director
  • Function as relief charge RN as needed
  • Ensure assignments for staff meet the daily need
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement) required
  • RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • One year OR experience required
  • Previous OR experience with Ortho/ Sports Medicine cases highly preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred- Either Charge RN or Service line leader

Nice to have

  • BSN, preferred
  • Nursing Specialty Certification, preferred

  • Acting as an advocate for patient before, during and after surgery
