As our Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) Nurse at CHI St. Joseph's Health, you will be the cornerstone of patient experience for those undergoing outpatient treatments or procedures. You will guide patients through their care journey, ensuring they feel informed, comfortable, and receive excellent nursing care when they need it most. Every day you will conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments, answer patient questions, administer vital medications and infusions, monitor patient status during various outpatient interventions, and provide comprehensive discharge teaching to empower patients for a safe recovery at home. You'll be adept at managing multiple patient needs while maintaining clear communication with families and the care team.
Job Responsibility
Pre-Procedure Preparedness: Efficiently admit and prepare patients, conduct comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, and ensure all necessary preparations are completed
Active Patient Monitoring & Treatment: Administer medications, fluids, and blood products, provide watchful monitoring during outpatient procedures/infusions, and assist providers as needed
Coordinated Discharge Planning: Facilitate seamless patient recovery post-procedure, provide thorough discharge instructions, and ensure a safe and informed transition home
Empathetic Patient Education: Serve as a primary resource for patients and families, providing clear, compassionate education regarding their care, recovery, and follow-up
Unit & Equipment Readiness: Ensure the ACU environment and equipment are continuously ready for patient care, maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency
Collaborative Team Player: Work seamlessly with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare staff to deliver integrated, high-quality outpatient care
Requirements
Graduate of accredited professional nursing education program
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Minnesota
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Hearth Association
