Job Description

An international law firm with a strong global footprint is currently looking to appoint a Risk Lawyer to join their Legal & Regulatory team, based in central London. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the chance to work within a growing, collaborative Risk function at a firm known for its commitment to regulatory excellence and cross-border capability.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing regulatory compliance across the firm’s international offices
  • Assisting in professional indemnity claims, including disclosure, file reviews, and liaison with external counsel
  • Drafting and reviewing engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, and internal legal notices
  • Conducting legal research and responding to internal risk queries
  • Supporting enterprise risk projects, including horizon scanning and maintaining risk registers
  • Advising on contract risk, particularly in relation to client and supplier agreements
  • Collaborating on the integration of new offices and service lines
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of firm-wide risk training

Requirements

  • Experience in managing claims or disputes, particularly in a professional negligence or in-house legal context
  • Strong understanding of SRA regulatory requirements
  • Sound knowledge of data protection and privacy law
  • Confident drafting ability and analytical thinking
  • Collaborative approach with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A proactive mindset and interest in contributing to a growing risk team

  • Address various areas of legal and regulatory risk, including issues concerning the regulation and governance of the firm, the SRA Standards & Regulations, and a broad variety of issues concerning the business, its lawyers and other business professionals
  • Specific legal, regulatory and compliance areas of focus will include the following and will involve supervising and acting as an escalation point for more junior team members: responding to queries and working on projects relating to client engagement, limitation of liability, anti-bribery & corruption, share dealing, outside interests, referral fees, file transfer, escrow arrangements, confidentiality undertakings, NDAs, DAC6/UK MDR, and modern slavery
  • consideration of whether something is reportable to the SRA or other authority
  • responding to queries and working on projects relating to HR issues, including the on-boarding of lateral hire partners and/or teams, staff departures, supporting investigations where there might be a regulatory or other reporting obligation
