Job Description:

Are you an experienced risk management individual who can "hit the ground running" and has a knack for building strong organisational partnerships? I am currently seeking an experienced Risk Advisor for an exciting short-term contract. This is a critical role within the Governance & Risk portfolio, focused on promoting a positive risk culture and ensuring strategic objectives are met safely and effectively. As the Risk Advisor, you will act as a key consultant and partner across the entire business. Your primary focus will be to lead the development and implementation of Council's strategic risk management and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is highly consultative, requiring you to navigate complex conversations with stakeholders ranging from General Managers to subject matter experts and the broader community.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the ongoing development and review of strategic and organizational risk management programs in line with best practice standards
  • Provide expert risk training and advisory services to management and employees regarding day-to-day activities, projects, and community events
  • Manage mandatory legislative compliance reporting and monitor the Council's risk profile to ensure all timelines and obligations are met
  • Coordinate the development, testing, and enhancement of the Business Continuity Plan and Community Emergency Response Plan

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: A solid background in risk management, internal audit, or business improvement with a strong understanding of risk management frameworks and standards
  • Exceptional Communication: The ability to build quick, effective relationships and negotiate outcomes with high-level managers and diverse stakeholders
  • 5 years experience
