RIA Billing Manager – Wealth Services Location: Remote At Alera Group, our Wealth Services team supports individuals and families in building, protecting, and transferring wealth through comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies. We’re seeking a RIA Billing Manager who will contribute to client relationships, financial strategy, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibility

  • Support advisory teams by ensuring accurate and timely investment advisory fee billing across Wealth Services and Retirement Plan Services
  • Partner with internal client service and operations teams to support smooth client fee processes and respond to billing inquiries
  • Assist with reporting and documentation used to support advisor and client communications
  • Conduct quarter‑end and ad‑hoc RIA fee billing across multiple custodial platforms
  • Validate billing data, perform reconciliations, and identify discrepancies requiring resolution
  • Coordinate with custodians and internal partners to resolve billing exceptions, rejections, and corrections
  • Support compliance testing and internal audits related to advisory fee billing
  • Ensure billing documentation and processes align with regulatory requirements and internal controls
  • Support scalable billing operations that enable business growth across advisory platforms
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and advisor experience
  • Help maintain strong internal partnerships that support long‑term advisor and client retention

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services, with hands‑on exposure to RIA fee billing or advisory operations
  • Strong understanding of advisory fee structures and investment management billing processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with financial data and reports

Nice to have

  • Experience using Orion Advisor Technology or similar RIA billing platforms
  • Familiarity with custodial platforms and multi‑custodian billing environments
  • Experience supporting Wealth Management or Retirement Plan Services teams

  • Serve as a day-to-day partner of the compliance team
  • Help maintain the Compliance Manual, BCP, and overall policies for the firm
  • Execute and document ongoing compliance testing, including fee billing audits across our subscription, flat-fee, and AUM structures
  • Contribute to the annual Rule 206(4)-7 review process, identify gaps, and drive improvements
  • Review financial planning engagements and fee-for-service arrangements to ensure deliverables meet contractual obligations and regulatory standards
  • Participate in and lead some of the compliance side of onboarding new advisors, including filings and training
  • Deliver training materials and handle some day-to-day guidance to advisors and staff
  • Edit, recommend, and amend compliance policies as needed
  • Monitor TAMP operations, conduct compliance due diligence on strategies and sub-advisers, and document vendor reviews
