Job Description

Reviews Officer – Housing & Homelessness. We are currently seeking an experienced Reviews Officer to join a busy Housing service in West London on an ongoing contract basis. The Role You will lead on the conduct and administration of statutory reviews relating to housing and homelessness, ensuring decisions are lawful, robust, and customer-focused.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead on and conduct reviews under Housing Act 1996 Parts VI & VII, including: Homelessness decisions
  • Suitability of temporary accommodation
  • Offers of permanent accommodation
  • s.166A reviews relating to the Housing Register
  • Manage and conduct reviews under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 (HRA 2017)
  • Respond to and manage legal challenges relating to temporary accommodation offers and occupancy under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002)
  • Liaise closely with Legal Services, providing clear recommendations on the service’s position in relation to legal matters
  • Maintain up-to-date, detailed knowledge of: Housing legislation and statutory duties
  • National policy, legal developments, and welfare reform impacting housing services
  • Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and excellent standards of care at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience conducting housing and homelessness reviews within a local authority setting
  • Strong working knowledge of Housing Act 1996, HRA 2017, and related legislation
  • Confident dealing with legal challenges and working alongside legal teams
  • Excellent written decision-making and communication skills
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
