We are looking for a Revenue Accountant to join an insurance organization in Clearwater, Florida as part of a contract opportunity with the potential to become long term. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who enjoys working with detailed revenue activity, maintaining accurate records, and investigating variances across multiple data sources. The position offers the chance to contribute to day-to-day accounting operations while supporting reliable financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Record revenue activity and prepare journal entries related to cash transactions, adjustments, and revenue reallocations
Examine insurance commission statements across different product lines and policy terms to ensure amounts are assigned to the correct general ledger accounts
Complete detailed reconciliations by carrier and account, resolving discrepancies through careful analysis of supporting documentation
Use advanced Excel functions, including formulas and pivot tables, to organize large datasets, validate balances, and summarize findings
Upload journal entry details and reconciliation support into the Oracle system while maintaining accuracy and completeness
Investigate complex revenue variances and assist with the resolution of issues that impact financial reporting
Partner with internal stakeholders on special assignments and process improvement efforts related to revenue accounting
Maintain compliance with accounting policies and support consistent, well-documented financial processes
Requirements:
Prior experience in revenue accounting, revenue analysis, or financial reconciliation roles
Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and cash reconciliations
Familiarity with reviewing insurance commissions and interpreting revenue data across multiple plan or policy types
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas, pivot tables, and data consolidation techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Experience with Oracle or a similar enterprise accounting system is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
