Job Description:

As a Tendering Engineer in our PPR (Pump, Parts & Retrofit) team, you’ll develop retrofit and upgrade solutions for pumps across the EMEA region, working on engineered-to-order projects that demand technical creativity and problem-solving. The PPR team delivers innovative solutions worldwide—manufacturing spare parts, duplicate pumps, and executing retrofits for OEM and non-OEM equipment. Our work includes hydraulic re-rates, mechanical redesigns, metallurgy upgrades, and reliability improvements, backed by in-house capabilities across Europe.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and deliver technically and commercially optimized proposals for retrofit and upgrade projects
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and suppliers to develop winning solutions
  • Manage bid strategies, ensuring compliance with Sulzer’s commercial guidelines and risk mitigation
  • Obtain and evaluate sub-vendor offers for mechanical seals, motors, and other components
  • Support client meetings, site visits, and handover processes to ensure smooth project execution

Requirements:

  • Preferred experience includes Sales, Tendering, or Applications within mechanical or hydraulic engineering
  • Strong pump and rotating equipment expertise
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in SAP and MS Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adapt to change
  • Willingness to travel (>15%)
  • Must be based in the UK
  • Must have the right to work in the UK

  • Reviewing project requirement with Retrofit Specialist (RS) – Key account manager (KAM) and to define bid strategy
  • Preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals in line with customer requirements, ensuring that proposals meet Sulzer commercial guidelines and have the necessary sign off in accordance with the Delegation of Authority
  • Obtain the quotes from sub-vendors for Mechanical Seal / Motors / Instruments and all other equipment / services
  • Performs application engineering duties in preparation of complete proposals, contacting appropriate service centers, parts manufacturing cells, sub-vendors and other Sulzer entities as required while clarifying specifications and other typical application duties
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering and Operations to provide cost effective, competitive solutions in line with Sulzer financial objectives
  • Routing the requirement of costing to the best solution available within Sulzer global portfolio and optimizing the costs for highest chance of award of the project
  • Support cross Regions requirements
  • Preparation of Lost Bid Analysis for issued proposals
  • Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continual improvement
  • Work together with Order Processing to ensure smooth and efficient handover of proposals/orders
