Do you have a sweet personality and do you love working with people? Have you ever wondered how the best fudge on the island is made? Then this is the position for you! If you’re friendly and have a positive and upbeat attitude then we’re looking for you! Our Retail Sales Associates who specialize in fudge will learn how to make our famous FIN-tastic fudge and will also learn the art of selling it. We also train our Retail Sales Associates who specialize in fudge also how to work on our retail POS registers and work along-side our Retail Sales Leads to make and drive sales on a daily basis. The Retail Sales Associates also assist with keeping our sales floor neat, tidy, and restocked. Our ideal Retail Sales Associate candidate is someone who is flexible and who can also work weekends, holidays, and the occasional night shift. Maui Ocean Treasures Gift Shop is the official gift shop of Maui Ocean Center. We are the most unique gift shop on Maui and we offer items that include apparel, books, marine-themed gifts, Hawaiʻi made culinary items, bath & body products, jewelry, keiki toys, and the BEST FUDGE ON MAUI! We strive to provide exceptional customer service and to assist our guests with finding the perfect gift to commemorate their visit to Maui.

Job Responsibility

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift 50lbs or more and be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be organized and maintain a clean and well-stocked cash wrap station and fudge counter
  • Will need to learn the state of Hawaii Department of Health's rules and guidelines
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be comfortable working on a computer
  • Maintain upbeat, professional attitude
  • Conduct positive interactions with customers and fellow employees
  • Actively contribute to meeting daily sales goals
  • Help to make and drive sales on the sales floor
  • Help with various projects, such as cleaning, restocking, setting-up merchandise displays

Requirements

  • Great people skills, outgoing and pleasant
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service daily
  • Reliability & punctuality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Can use a calculator to add/subtract/percentages etc
  • Self-Motivated & organized with attention to detail
  • Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 – 9 hour shifts with breaks)
  • Can bend, stoop, and lift at least 50 lbs
  • Clear communication: this includes verbally and with reading/writing in the English language
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, holidays, and the occasional night shift

Nice to have

  • Familiar with the State of Hawaii Department of Health's rules and guidelines for working with food products
  • Previous experience working in retail
  • Some experience with working on a Point-Of-Sale (POS) system
