Performs a variety of tasks in support of the daily workflow of the pharmacy to include the appropriate distribution of medications in compliance with state and federal laws and in accordance with CSH policies and procedures. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, technicians are accountable for 1) preparing and dispensing prescribed medications for patients, 2) performing compounding of intravenous medications, 3) assisting in managing inventory, 4) performing charging and crediting functions for medications associated with drug distribution processes, and 5) performing routine clerical/administrative tasks.
Job Responsibility:
Prepares, distributes and delivers medications in accordance with CSH policies and procedures, The JointCommission requirements, and Department of Health regulations
Maintains proper medication and supply stock levels
Performs clerical and administrative tasks in support of the day to day operations of the department
Operates and maintains automated medication delivery systems and devices
Participates in department quality assurance programs and maintains appropriate quality assurance documentation
Trained and certified in IV admixture preparation including all regulatory and compliance requirements with required training and documentation
Performs related duties as required
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
6 months compounding of IV medication
Current license as a Pharmacy Technician by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician: ECPT or PTCB
