Job Description

Help us deliver a better tomorrow. Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride. About the opportunity: Joining our Retail Data and Insights team as Retail Data & Insights Analyst, you’ll work directly with large, complex datasets across multiple sources, applying your technical expertise to bring clarity to the numbers and enable smarter decision-making. This isn’t just about answering today’s ad-hoc questions - you’ll design and deliver automated, scalable, and future-proof solutions that form the foundation for self-serve insights across the business. Just as importantly, you’ll translate complex findings and outcomes into simple, clear outputs that business stakeholders can understand and act on. It’s a unique opportunity to help shape the next generation of Retail insights at one of Australia’s most trusted organisations.

Job Responsibility

  • Write and optimise complex SQL queries to collect, integrate and standardise datasets
  • Leverage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data engineering, transformation, and optimisation of pipelines
  • Design and build reporting assets and dashboards in Tableau and Looker, ensuring outputs are accurate, automated, and impactful
  • Analyse large, complex datasets to uncover meaningful insights that drive business outcomes
  • Translate ad-hoc business questions into structured analysis, delivering not just data, but clear recommendations
  • Document your work to ensure reusability and scalability, enabling future self-serve insights
  • Confidently present insights to stakeholders at all levels, influencing decision-making

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in analytics, business intelligence or data engineering roles
  • Advanced SQL skills, with proven experience working with large and complex datasets
  • Hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - ideally BigQuery
  • Strong skills in Tableau and Looker
  • A track record of delivering end-to-end data solutions: data engineering, analysis, dashboard design, and metric curation
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with a curious mindset that drives you to explore beyond the obvious
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to simplify technical complexity, tell a story with data, and present to senior leaders with confidence
  • A mindset of automation, scalability, and documentation, ensuring your work delivers long-term value

What we offer

  • Join one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse workforces in Australia, where we’re all ages, genders and come from all walks of life
  • We deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety every day. They’re the TIES that bind our team together
  • Immerse yourself in the AP Way – where every single team member partakes in a learning module to help understand the vital role we play in delivering on our strategy and purpose
