Job Description:

We are seeking a Retail and Gallery Supervisor to join our Barraga Retail & Art Gallery Team at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre. Embraced by one of the world's most beautiful locations, the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre is an enticing destination to introduce visitors to both the stunning natural beauty of the Daintree and the rich culture of the Kuku Yalanji people. As Retail & Gallery Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of Barraga Retail and Art Gallery, ensuring a culturally respectful, engaging and commercially strong environment. We’re looking for a confident floor leader with retail expertise, strong operational discipline and a genuine interest in Indigenous art, storytelling and tourism.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee daily retail and gallery operations, including stock control and merchandising standards
  • Lead and support the retail team to deliver exceptional, culturally respectful service
  • Monitor sales performance, cash handling and operational compliance
  • Maintain professional presentation and visual standards across retail and gallery spaces
  • Support training, onboarding and team development initiatives

Requirements:

  • Experience in retail supervision and inventory management
  • Strong sales capability and customer service skills
  • Cash handling and operational compliance experience
  • Knowledge of the local area and cultural groups (highly regarded)
  • Certificate III in Retail or Hospitality (or relevant industry experience)
  • A National Criminal History Check is a mandatory step in the recruitment process
