UT Southwestern is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) as an integral part of our clinical care team. This full-time RRT position will work collaboratively with our clinical caregivers, patients, and families to improve and maintain ideal lung health for all ages (adult, geriatric, and neonatal). As a valued member of our Respiratory Care team, you will be applying and monitoring medical gases (excluding anesthetic gases) and environmental control systems, mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation related and limited to respiratory care.
Job Responsibility:
Administer therapy according to departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrate decision-making skills in patient assessment and plan of care
Assist in writing procedures or giving in-services
Perform technical procedures and operate equipment with a high level of expertise
Maintain knowledge of infrequently used equipment and ordered patient therapeutics
Assess patient and family's knowledge deficit regarding Cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology
Adhere to department administrative procedures
Demonstrate activities consistent with the financial objectives of the department
Assume and perform charge therapist duties when assigned
Report all relative patient care and equipment issues to charge therapist
Demonstrate engagement by attending and participating in meetings
Take responsibility for maintaining supplies and equipment
Actively participate in Quality Assurance departmental activities and objectives
Foster teamwork
Adhere to hospital and department attendance policies
Requirements:
Two (2) years of critical care preferred
A.A.S Graduate of accredited program in respiratory care (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
License by the Texas Medical Board
Registered by the NBRC
Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Specialty areas may have increased certification/license requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care
NRP is required to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
