Respiratory Therapist treats a range of patients from premature infants whose lungs are not fully developed to elderly people with pulmonary disease. Respiratory Therapist works under the supervision of physicians and delivers a range of respiratory care modalities on scheduled and emergency basis
Job Responsibility
Operates mechanical ventilators
Operates non-invasive mechanical ventilators
Operates high-flow oxygen delivery systems
Draws umbilical cord gases
Draws arterial blood gases
Determines appropriateness and participates in developing and recommending modifications to respiratory care plans
Gathers information and interprets data regarding patient history, lab results, radiological reports, and other pertinent results regarding patient care
Demonstrates willingness to learn new techniques and new equipment
Actively initiates and participates in communication to assure effective delivery of respiratory care
Communicates with patients and family in a respectful manner
Requirements
Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Credentialed through the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Licensed in the State of Washington as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Excellent communication skills with physicians, colleagues, and patients
Ability to learn and utilize new technologies
Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately
Nice to have
Two or more years’ experience
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required within 6 months of hire
