Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Director, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per care plan, Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance, Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment
Educates the patient and family about the patient’s illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources
Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment
Requirements:
License: Respiratory Therapist Certification, Respiratory Care Technician or Respiratory Care Practitioner
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) within 1 year of hire
