Job Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist Regional Float, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues and floating between multiple hospitals in the Omaha / Council Bluffs area, earning a 25% hourly differential on top of competitive base wage. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs basic respiratory care and develops plans for the delivery of Respiratory Therapy as directed by physicians or protocols
  • Administers and monitors critical care procedures such as mechanical ventilation, physiological monitoring, and diagnostic procedures
  • Performs assessment of the patient, determining needs related to therapy modality, frequency, and duration
  • Communicates pertinent patient evaluation data to the physician and makes recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy
  • Authorized to make entries in the medical record
  • Observes the response of the patients to therapy, evaluates and records in the patient’s medical record
  • Provides instruction to patients, family, staff, and students about theory, therapy, and equipment used in Respiratory Therapy procedures and techniques
  • Assumes charge person responsibilities in the supervisor’s absence
  • Assigns work load, based on staff’s level of competency

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Respiratory program
  • Obtain RRT within 1 year upon hire
  • Active license in the state of Nebraska AND Iowa as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • BLS through AHA required
  • ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
  • PALS within 6 months
  • NRP within 9 months

Nice to have:

Two years experience in respiratory in a critical care setting
