Job Description:

As our Respiratory Therapist III, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes. Every day you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and equipment proficiency. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders
  • Assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families
  • Document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff
  • Attends 80% of staff development meetings on a yearly basis
  • Actively participates in department committees task forces
  • Completes all mandatory competency checklists and certifications
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for pursuing continued training/education
  • Evaluates own performance and seeks validation resulting in positive change
  • Provides feedback to peers in a formal and informal review process
  • Performs advanced neonatal respiratory care including standard neonatal respiratory skills, intensive care skills and emergency resuscitation skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a Community or Regional NICU
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 30 Days

  • Provides a range of treatments from breathing techniques, nebulizer treatments, ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.
  • Applies acute assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.
  • Must be flexible to float to various departments and sites throughout the Texas Market which could include but not limited to scheduling day of staffing.
  • Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a Clinical Leader.
  • Must be available to be scheduled for a minimum of 3 shifts every week and available to be scheduled a Saturday and Sunday shift every other weekend.
  • Must be available to be scheduled for two major holidays per policy.
  • May take Call.
