Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program supported by CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP
Respiratory Therapist currently licensed with Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
Must possess the national advanced level credential: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required upon hire and kept current
ACLS within 6 months of hire and kept current
Knowledge of respiratory care principles and procedures
Knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Must be dependable regarding attendance and self-motivated
Must possess the ability to work independently yet also as a team member

Job Responsibility

Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients of all ages in accordance with departmental standards, policies and procedures
Detailed initial and ongoing assessments of patient needs, including life-threatening emergencies
Administration and evaluation of respiratory care treatments
Supervision of others in the delivery of respiratory care
Accurate performance of pulmonary and cardiac diagnostic procedures
Must be willing to flex up for short-term needs such as vacations or illness
Willingness to flex down or go home early if patient census and workload do not support full shift
Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of pulmonary and cardiovascular findings as they pertain to the assessment of a patient’s functional capacity
Utilizes active listening and behavioral skills in health counseling
Demonstrates an understanding of the psychosocial issues affecting adherence to various interventions strategies and the development of an integrated treatment plan

Follow all health & safety procedures and report accidents and near misses
Provide direct feedback to the area’s Quality Assurance Engineer, Lead, Technical Lead and Operators after each formal inspection
Participate in Material Review Boards and authorise or reject proposed product dispositions (Use As-Is, Rework, Scrap and Return to Vendor)
Offer recommendations to resolve recurring deficiencies found during inspections
Where necessary conduct first article inspection of parts
Maintain necessary inspection logs and write inspection reports
Provide training as required to address deficiencies identified during audits/inspection
