Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant, under general supervision, performs a variety of technical respiratory therapy treatments to contribute to the delivery of quality patient care.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs a variety of respiratory therapy treatments (including but not limited to PEP, IS, and O2 checks, Incentive Spirometer treatments, and oxygen therapy) in a quality manner and in accordance with established procedures
  • Under general supervision, instructs patients in the use of various treatments in a thorough and professional manner
  • Updates patient records with all therapies provided, and reports all unusual signs, symptoms, or side effects immediately
  • Documents all treatments and therapies given, any supplies used and accurately files all corresponding charges
  • Performs regular cleaning and sterilization of equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintains the proper functioning of oxygen and emergency equipment through daily checks, and notifies staff to order the necessary supplies as needed

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Care program
