The Respiratory Care Practitioner, under direct supervision, conducts patient assessments, assists with the development of the plan of care, provides and evaluates general, basic patient care with assistance to an assigned group of patients according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. The Respiratory Care Team is accountable for delivering high-quality, evidence-based respiratory therapy to pediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, including critical care, pulmonary diagnostics, and sleep lab services. Job Responsibility:
Conduct patient assessments
Assist with the development of the plan of care
Provide and evaluate general, basic patient care with assistance to an assigned group of patients according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs
Collaborate with other health care team members in the delivery of care
Follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based respiratory therapy to pediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, including critical care, pulmonary diagnostics, and sleep lab services
Requirements:
1+ year experience as a CHLA RCP I, or 2+ years critical care experience as an RCP
Experience with pediatric patients
Broad knowledge of respiratory care principles and equipment
CHLA patient care policies and procedures
Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies
Ability to prioritize tasks for complex patient care
Ability to communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing
Graduate of an A.M.A, and CoARC accredited School of Respiratory Care
RCP license from the state of California
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the NBRC
Current American Heart Association BLS, PALS, ACLS required
Additional competencies may be required by the work location
