Job Description

The incumbent will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, medical gas administration and demonstrate competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Completion of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program

  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

  • Intubates and extubates neonatal patients as per NICU protocol or the physician's written or verbal orders
  • Organizes and gives a comprehensive patient report to the on coming shift
  • Approaches the physician to clarify prescribed therapy and recommends modification when indicated
  • Assesses and monitors the use of oxygen by performing pulse oximetry to verify medical need for oxygen. Recommends changes in therapy
