The Respiratory Care Instructor position is an 11-month, tenure-track faculty position. This position requires the effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The respiratory care program will provide quality educational opportunities for students seeking to enter the healthcare arena as respiratory therapists to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
Job Responsibility:
Effective teaching and advising of diverse students
assist in developing the respiratory care program and in gaining accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, CoARC
teach a broad range of courses in the department with the possibility of day, evening, weekend, or online teaching assignments as assigned
prepare course plans and materials
effectively deliver subject matter content
monitor student attendance and progress
participate on departmental and College committees
participate in curriculum development
support activities that foster retention
participate in the selection of textbooks
perform the assessment of student learning outcomes
take part in other service and professional development activities
assist in maintaining CoARC accreditation
Requirements:
Graduation from an institution with accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting agency with an associate degree in respiratory care
a bachelor’s degree in a qualifying field
a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential
current Florida license without restrictions by the first date of employment
American Heart BLS card
a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care
a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor or preceptor for students of such programs
successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen

completion of the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program
