Job Description

The Resiliency, Security and Safety Director manages all designated elements of Resiliency, Security and Safety. The Director will provide professional, managerial skills related to business continuity planning, crisis management, and project management. The Director will support the Line of Business (LOB) partners in developing business continuity and disaster recovery plans. The Director will conduct a business impact analysis, a business interruption risks assessment, and recovery gap analysis, producing appropriate executivelevel summaries and recommendations for remediation. The Director must be able to capitalize on business opportunities to refine production processes to mitigate exposure during disruptions of service without adversely affecting day-to-day operations. The Director will have regular interaction with Executive Management and the Board of Directors and will also indirectly facilitate others in the development of continuity and recovery documentation across the Bank. This position will hold a high level of responsibility of business continuity and disaster recovery for the Bank.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide leadership and recommendations in managing the work and activities involved in conducting and planning efforts to improve the protection, resiliency and reliability
  • Responsible for independently managing the maintenance and the testing of the IT Disaster Recovery Plans and coordination of plan objectives with the continuity plans from the business units
  • Primarily responsible for high level of business continuity and disaster recovery strategies which are essential to the sound business operations of the bank
  • Must manage and coordinate the development and assessment of recovery strategies including backup procedures, data and file system replication, archiving, and caching, record retention, system restoration procedures, and high availability solutions
  • Establishes scope and objectives of Disaster Recovery tests at offsite locations and schedule test timing and resources accordingly
  • Must be available to coordinate and evaluate the DR Testing
  • Works closely with the appropriate IT teams to align business continuity strategy with the IT Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP)
  • stay current on planned infrastructure and application changes to ensure timely and accurate updates to the DRP in a very dynamic environment
  • Specialized knowledge and certifications such as CISSP, CBCP, PMP, ITIL, or CRISC
  • Solid understanding of business processes analysis, and improvement strategies as well as technology and data dependencies within the IT infrastructure and how they affect recovery strategies
  • Responsible for acting as a bridge between IT and business process owners
  • Conducts business impact analysis and risk assessments, gap analysis, and executive summaries
  • Designs, development and documentation of LOB partners’ business continuity plans
  • Coordinates yearly business continuity plan and disaster recovery plan exercises, including crisis management plan table top exercise and event-specific scenarios such as pandemic, active shooter, etc
  • Responsible for developing schedules for training content and awareness for LOB partners and their staff
  • Coordinates development of business unit schedules for annual business continuity documentation maintenance and update, exercises, and independent review and validation
  • Prepares and presents Board approval documentation to ensure top-level understanding and approval of all plans, including status of recovery capabilities that defines gaps and risks to the Bank’s resiliency
  • Ensures to report the business continuity status of business units to executive management
  • Provides expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as requested, when a business disruption occurs
  • Functions as lead coordinator and point of contact during crisis situations – must be available as first-responder and primary point of contact and coordinator during any disaster scenario

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in writing business continuity plans, disaster recovery plans, and crisis management plans
  • emergency management, handling crisis situation, and/or related knowledge, preferably in banking or a highly regulated industry
  • 5-7 years experience in leading projects affecting disparate departments and job functions, including the challenges with time management and influencing others to prioritize these responsibilities appropriately
  • creating and executing all phases of a Business Continuity Program for a financial services organization leveraging 3rd party and cloud providers as part of the infrastructure and applications architecture
  • Project management and crisis management skills are also critical for plan development with emphasis on execution across multiple banking centers
  • significant prior experience creating a business continuity program and managing all aspects of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Extensive, first-hand experience writing business impact analysis, risk assessments, gap analysis, business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans is critical to the success of the Manager in this role
  • Good working knowledge of information technology a must
  • Must be comfortable performing Executive and Board-level status briefings and preparing such briefings with a minimal amount of supervisory intervention
  • Extensive project management skills, especially with IT and security-related projects
  • Must be able to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with business partners and with executive management
  • Strong analytical, organizational, administrative, and decision making skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve target dates
  • Must be a leader and a productive team player
  • Strong understanding of data center operations and critical dependencies
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
  • Strong Knowledge of regulatory bodies, and the regulations and guidance issued by these bodies, overseeing banks, credit unions, and financial services organizations, such as the FDIC, FinCEN, Federal Reserve Board, and OCC
  • Must possess strong project management and leadership aptitude
  • Must be a persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the management team and who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
  • Travel and off-hour, on-call support required
  • CISSP, CBCP, PMP, ITIL, or CRISC
  • Bachelor's Degree Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business or in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
