Warrington Borough Council's Supported Accommodation and residential services are expanding. We have exciting opportunities to join an already supportive and experienced staff team as a residential Worker. This is a challenging role where you will be supporting and mentoring young people aged 10 to 18 with a number of complex needs to improve their outcomes, achieve their goals. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for working with young people and are flexible, resilient, self motivated and committed.
Job Responsibility
To provide high quality support and mentoring for young people to ensure a safe and stable environment that supports them in achieving their full potential
Progress Young Peoples plans to receive high quality physical, emotional, social and intellectual support, acting as a positive adult role model
Act as a key worker for agreed young people, undertaking, completing key worker files and risk assessments under the overall supervision of the Registered and Deputy Manager
To support and advocate for the Young People who are supported within the residential home
Work on rota basis including working days, evenings, weekends and sleep in shifts
Requirements
Must have or be willing to work towards an NVQ level 3 in children & young people
Experience of working with children and young people in a social care setting
Understanding of young people's needs and behaviours
Evidence of effectively contributing to responding to those needs
Demonstrates a flexibility of approach
Excellent communication skills with young people, families and professionals
Accepts responsibility and accountability for own work
Understands the limits of his/her role
Is able to complete work by set deadline
Seeks and uses professional support constructively
Evidence of ability to contribute effectively to a team
Experience of working in a setting where a calm manner and reflective attitude is needed
Ability to travel independently between various homes across the services
The ability to converse at ease with young people, professionals and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
DBS clearance is required
Must have the right to work in the UK
