Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our dynamic team in Montrose, working within a specialised children's residential unit that provides a safe and supportive environment for young offenders on remand. Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day-to-day support and care to young offenders on remand, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
  • Offer practical and emotional support to young people, helping them to develop essential life skills
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, psychologists, and education providers
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports
  • Manage challenging behaviour and de-escalate potentially volatile situations
  • Provide support and guidance relating to substance misuse, mental health, and rehabilitation
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with young people with challenging behaviours, ideally within a residential setting
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting young people with substance misuse issues
  • Strong understanding of mental health difficulties and experience in providing appropriate support
  • Experience in rehabilitation and promoting positive behavioural change
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Resilience, patience, and a non-judgmental approach
  • A relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or a related field (e.g., SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care) is highly desirable
  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle is desirable
  • Must be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check
