We are currently recruiting 3 Residential Support Workers on behalf of a well-established children’s residential service in High Wycombe. This is a 3–6 month interim opportunity to support the service while permanent recruitment is underway. About the Service You will be working within a residential short breaks service supporting young people aged 5–18 with disabilities. The service provides overnight care, giving families and carers essential respite. The environment is designed to be welcoming and supportive, with a focus on: High-quality personal care; Tailored meals; Engaging and meaningful activities
Job Responsibility:
Work 1:1 with a young person throughout your shift
Support children and young people with complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and challenging behaviours
Assist with personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines
Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment
Work collaboratively with a wider team to deliver high-quality care
Requirements:
Ability to build and maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with children and young people
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and/or disabilities
Confidence working with challenging behaviours
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to safely lift and handle children and young people
Understanding of the challenges faced by those with physical disabilities and appropriate support methods
Basic moving and handling / hoisting knowledge
Physically able to support personal care and daily activities
Nice to have:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
